FlexDrill and the Part Manipulator
FlexArm sells these crazy handy tapped top carts, perfect for your FlexArm Tapping arm. They provide a stable level surface, with a grid of tapped holes perfect for flexible fixturing. We machine the cart tops in house, so we need to drill, tap, and champfer dozens of holes. and it's large size made it too tricky to maneuver into any of our Haas CNC machines, so the FlexDrill was the perfect solution. We load both sides of the machine, and using pendulum mode, The FlexDrill can machine one cart top, while Chuck, our CNC Operator, loads another cart top on the other side. Using this method, we have been able to double our cart top production.
Even better, we were able to pull a FlexArm Part Manipulator off of the shelf and put it to work quickly moving parts on and off of the CNC Machine. It's way simpler trying to maneuver a forklift and strap system, and less fuss then even an overhead crane system.
So we were able to make cart tops for the FlexArm Cart, using the FlexDrill to drill the holes, the Part Manipulator to load and unload them, and a Hydraulic FlexArm to tap them.
