FlexArm: The Power Behind the New B-19 Assembly Arm
The story began with a need.
The story of the B-19 assembly arm began and played out to its conclusion: a solution unlike any other. It ended and began with the power behind the B-19.
The FlexArm B-19 is a new heavy-duty assembly arm. It was designed for the automotive industry because no other assembly arm could handle the need. Nothing – until the B-19 assembly arm became reality.
The B-19 started with a telephone call. Assembly arms at a major automotive manufacturing plant were cracking at the rear pin. They needed an assembly arm to handle heavier tools. It needed to fit in small work areas and be adjustable. It needed to take substantial torque. It needed to be dependable for the long-term.
The challenge was real.
FlexArm needed to design and manufacture an assembly arm to meet the need and be the solution.
We did.
We took the design of the assembly arm being used and created a better model. We took what was failing and made it into something we could be proud to call a FlexArm. We used stronger materials, a better cylinder, and an adjustable, adaptable arm that could handle the weight. We named it the CVA B-19, or B-19 for short. We took their tools plus our arm, the B-19, and enabled their production team to do what they need to do: build cars. And keep building cars – without having their assembly arms FAIL.
Our internal memo was released:
"I have completed the design (close enough) to show it to you. This arm incorporates ball bearings at all of the pivot points (both arm links and angle). It has an adjustable angle and an air cylinder in it as described to me that was being used in the existing arm. I estimate that the arm will be able to handle 25 lbs. – at least that is my goal."
The B-19 assembly arm was created to handle the challenge.

He saw how it would help workers in his production area by taking torque out of their hands. He returned to his company in Wapakoneta, Ohio. He created and manufactured the first FlexArm for use in his shop. However, good news is hard to keep quiet and word spread about the benefits of using a FlexArm in production. The story had begun.
The FlexArm story is the story of seeing a need, taking a concept to a drawing table, and designing the best solution. That is the power behind all of our products.
Our new heavy-duty assembly arm isn’t only a “solution” – it is a solution that’s fitting for the name: B-19. It is a real fighter – for sure. It takes up to 100 ft./lbs. torque so your workers don’t have to. It’s ammunition for your ergonomic battle.
